How to Solve unable to edit and save files in Windows 8.1 & 10
In Windows 8.1 and 10 OS the file permission gets set unusually by the operating system. This causes user of the computer unable to edit and save files in some folders, unless the application is running in “Administrator Mode”. This is a very common problem.
Symptoms of such protected folders are
- You are unable to create new files as shown below. You will only be able to create new folder.
- When you try to save a file you get message “Access is denied”
- The documents open in only “read-only” mode
- Unable to save files
- File opens in only Read only mode
- Unable to save files
- User need to have administrator level access to delete files
SOLUTION
Note : Don’t apply this solution in C: drive in which Windows OS has been installed
Note : You need administrator level access to apply this solution

- Click “OK“
- Click “Find Now“
- Select the username of the current account you are using. In my case the username is “Lenovo“
- Click “OK“
